Thank you for all the info. What i don't understand is if you get put in the work related group, and say you found some work you could manage for a few hours a day & ESA added on to your earnings would presumably be an amount you could live with. If you can only be on ESA for a year would this apply to you? If so what happens then ?

Sorry if I didn't make this clear. ESA is open ended - you can be on it for as long as you need to be. However after the first year it becomes means tested which means depending on how much other income you have could see your ESA reduced. After the first year you will be checked on " a regular basis" for other income and your ESA changed accordingly

An update on recording from several of our members who have tried. ATOS were sending recording equipment between centres after a sudden upsurge in requests for recorded meetings. Several of them have broken and because of that the government have allowed ATOS to buy some more - as in more than 8. However this takes time and a backlog of claims is building - so ATOS are being allowed to carry out medical interviews without recording even when you have asked for it. If you refuse you could be penalised. Is this fair?

No

Anything you can do about it?

No

What do we do now?

I Have just had a letter from DWP - I have been put in the support group with no medical! Thank you so much for your in depth information & help.

Anyone filling out one of those forms - take heart, take your time to go through all the the info. Try & get letters of support from Doctors/healthcare professionals

even alternative healthcare professionals.

Jon do you still need any help to keep up to date with the rules on ESA or anything else?
