John Cherry - Director, Narcolepsy UK
John Cherry joined us on the 1st of February as the Association’s first full time employee. Before taking some time off to finish his MBA, John spent six years as Chief Executive of St Luke’s Hospital for the Clergy, a charity based around the support of Anglican Clergy and their families who were suffering from ill health. John has been active on several charity boards including Help the Hospices and the children’s charity BETA as well as fundraising for the Army Benevolent Fund
Before moving into the charity sector John worked in several blue chip medical equipment companies including BOC Healthcare and Neotronics Medical. His last role in industry was as Managing Director of Nale Industries, a software company that worked in the secure printing marketplace.
John is married to Amanda and lives in Essex. He remains interested in all areas of social justice, particularly supporting families who have to navigate the statutory benefits system. John is also interested in ensuring that children with different abilities and health issues can operate in mainstream education and that their families can receive all the support that is available.
John joins Narcolepsy UK at an exciting time. Thanks to the generosity of two members who left significant donations to the charity in their wills, Narcolepsy UK can now plan to increase the awareness of narcolepsy and support families with even greater strength and determination. John and all the trustees realise that we continue to need the support of the members to achieve our goals. We are always looking for volunteers for various activities at the charity and of course donations. If you can help in any way please do contact us. John can be by email at john.cherry@narcolepsy.org.uk.
