Volunteers’ Week is a chance to say thank you for the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. It takes place 1-7 June every year and is an opportunity to celebrate volunteering in all its diversity.
In the second of our series of posts marking the contribution made by volunteers to Narcolepsy UK, our Operations Manager Nicola Rule Allen pays tribute to our volunteer benefits advisers:
One of the most important functions of our Helpline is to provide assistance with claims for benefits. In recent years, the number of cases on which our assistance has been sought increased enormously, with the result that our staff were unable to deal with them with the speed that we aim for. Our appeal for volunteers to assist was swiftly answered, and our Helpline is now ably supported by Volunteer Advisors as well as staff. As a result, we are able to offer a quicker service, by people with a deep insight into narcolepsy.
Without volunteers, charities would struggle to survive, and this is another example of the crucial contribution that volunteers make.
If you need help with benefits we will be happy to assist, but please first read how you can help us to help you [LINK: https://www.narcolepsy.org.uk/resources/helpline-help-us-help-you].
