Successful conference in Scotland

13th September 2017

On Saturday 9th September 2017 Narcolepsy UK delivered a Conference in Glasgow, kindly funded by Foundation Scotland.

In a varied programme of speakers, Dr Chris Carlin spoke about the background to narcolepsy and co-morbidities, and Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist Irene McArthur advised how to help children and made many cross-references that were equally helpful to adults. A lively Q&A session followed.

A break for lunch allowed delegates to mingle, share experiences and make new friends.

After lunch, Narcolepsy UK Trustee Ed Coates spoke about his own experiences as a parent of a young person newly diagnosed with narcolepsy and the frustration this can bring, and Narcolepsy UK Operations Manager Nicola Rule gave a swift overview of Community Fundraising, before welcoming Nelum from Glasgow Mindfulness Centre, who ran a wonderfully relaxing introduction to Mindfulness, leaving delegates and organisers nicely relaxed after a busy day.

Rebecca Malone and Liam Sloan of Narcolepsy UK were on hand throughout the day to support benefit applications and advise how people can volunteer for the charity.

Thanks go to our Scots Volunteers who set up, welcomed delegates and placed them at ease, took photos and generally helped make the day run smoothly.
