Assistance scheme at UK airports

A scheme to assist air travellers with hidden disabilities is now operating at a number of UK airports. The scheme involves issuing the passenger with a distinctive lanyard, by which they are able to identify themselves discreetly to airport staff so that tailored help and support can be offered throughout their journey.

The scheme has been developed by Outsourced Client Solutions (OCS) and was first introduced at Gatwick Airport. We understand that it is now operational at a number of other UK airports, including Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh.

If you are a person with narcolepsy, and you feel that this scheme may be helpful to you when travelling through a UK airport, please ask the airport before you travel or at a Customer Services or Information desk when you get to the airport.
